Hazard Identification Risk Assessment

Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA)

What is HIRA and who needs HIRA training?

Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) is a structured process for finding workplace hazards, judging how likely and how serious harm could be, and deciding the controls needed to reduce the risk. HIRA training is for the people who lead or conduct risk assessments at work.

  • Line managers and supervisors who approve or carry out task risk assessments
  • HSE officers and safety representatives
  • Anyone appointed to lead workplace risk assessments or safety inspections

Employees who only need an introduction should take Risk Assessment Awareness.

Our structured approach to threat-related risk management encompasses a sequence of human actions—risk identification, quantification, and the development of strategies for risk response and mitigation. Recognizing workplace safety and health threats is a significant challenge for safety representatives. Our Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment training program aids businesses in meeting legal obligations. It enhances workplace safety by deepening participants’ comprehension of Hazard Recognition, Evaluation, and Control.

For a shorter introduction for employees, see Risk Assessment Awareness.

For certification of your occupational health and safety system, see ISO 45001 certification.
